Simply speaking, yarn merchandise is what you get when you mix up the letters of my first and last names. Well, almost. Ryan Schneiderman = Yarn Merchandise…with an extra n left over. Yarn Merchandisen just doesn’t have the same ring to it. I guess I could make mathematicians pleased by squaring one of the n’s, but that might be taking it a little too far. So, we’ll stick with Yarn Merchandise. I’d say that’s a pretty decent result for a last name as long and German as mine – agreed? Good.

Now that we’ve got that nonsense out of the way, I’m going to provide you with one of the quickest biographies you’ve ever read. I’m 27, live in Phoenix, have a penchant for things that inspire and a disdain for time wasted.

I constantly seek inspiration from people in my life. The Earth is massive and every one of its 2 billion citizens is entirely unique. There is so much out there to explore, so many people to meet and so much knowledge to be gained that it amazes me how anyone could just sift through life without a passion to know more.

Recently, I read an interesting article in which scientists discovered the deepest living fish in the world. Miles and miles underneath the Pacific Ocean live these tiny fish that no one had ever seen before – or even known about! Billions of people have come and gone in this planet’s history and no one…NOT ONE PERSON…had ever seen these fish before. While the discovery is not as Earth-shattering as say, the wheel, it’s still unbelievable how we, as a people, could have gone through myriad centuries of existence and only now discovered these fish.

The end of the article was open to commentary and one lady wrote something that really stood out in my mind – “It’s amazing to me how people clash and wage war because they believe they know everything there is to know in the world, yet there is so much in the world that we, as a population, have yet to discover.”

Isn’t that true?

There are constant breakthroughs in the scientific world. We’re finding new plant and animal life that has never been discovered before. We’re exploring deeper and deeper into the Solar System and sending technology to roam planets and send back images that have never been available. We’re getting closer and closer to finding cures for those killer diseases. You can barely go a day without hearing about progress.

The internet is exactly like the Earth in that there is so much left to discover. Fortunately, no one has gone to war over a website…as far as I can tell! But seriously, where was blogging a few years ago? How about SEO or Google Adwords? Social marketing? The internet has been around for decades and we’re just discovering and developing these things now. Who knows where we’ll be in 1, 5, 10, 50 years.

Life is an amazing thing. Everyone’s an author – you’re responsible for writing your own story. Find what piques your interest and help make it better. Make it more accessible to others so they can enjoy it too. Share insight. Share expertise. Ask questions.

We now know what the deepest-living fish in the world look like. Who know’s what’s next?
